API Ch. 8 and ISO 3171 standards for crude oil sampling recommend homogenous mixing of crude oil
prior to sampling. Some clients may also apply this to certain hydrocarbon liquids. These standards call
for a need, not only to consider the type of instrument being installed to obtain representative samples,
but also whether the point of sampling is a point considered to be representative of the flowing water and
oil stream. One of the ways that a homogenous sample is obtained is through the correct selection and
implementation of static mixers upstream of the sample point.
Since API and ISO make these recommendations we believe that 'best practice' will give operators a
method of true correlation. The MBW system is an one--piece spool design enabling operators to do
exactly this without having to rely on multiple vendors. Since all major parts of the MBW system are
designed and manufactured in-house by EESIFLO®, the operator benefits from single source responsibility.
